Show for You

I’m of the mindset that if there’s nothing to talk about then nothing need be said. And it’s been months, MONTHS since I last updated this blog, but there’s finally a few things to talk about! The first and most important is the NYC show in April. Remember last April the interview I had with Rebecca Marsh? She’ll be curating the Normal Bob/Pray For Satan art event at The Pfizer Building in Brooklyn April 16th – 29th. It’ll be showcasing my work from the 90s all the way up to present day.  I promise it’ll be unlike anything I’ve ever done or shown before. On display will be many of my most recent pieces and a lot of never before seen work. It’ll include a retrospective of everything from Creatures Of Neptune, a history of Jesus Dressup & my “Devil Years” in NYC and Amazing Strangers, book-ended by what came before to what I’m doing now. This is not the last you’ll hear on the subject. I’m very excited about it all, and I hope there are enough of you out there who still care enough to attend. It’ll be a delightful trip down Memory Lane for me, and for anyone who’s ever been a fan of the site. More to come.

It’s also that time of year again where I’m looking for stores in your hood who might possibly carry Jesus Dressup on their shelves. Right now is when gift shops and other stores gear up for spring, so if you give me the store name & city I’ll take it from there. Then, if your suggestion does indeed place an order from me I will award you with a free set of Jesus Dressup of your choice. Sweet, huh? Contact me, PLEEZE!

Finally, here’s some of what I’ve done lately.

Book Nook’s Normal Bob Holiday Display

Book Nook inviteYou’re all invited to the Normal Bob Art Reception at The Book Nook in Montague the evening of the eve of Christmas Eve – Dec 23rd. There’ll be food, friends, family and festive fun for all!

If you can’t make it then, stop in any time between now and January 5th, 2020.  The Book Nook is such a lovely spot. My stuff looks right at home there.

And if Montague Michigan isn’t anywhere near you,  I also have plans to bring an entire retrospective of my artistic life from the 90s to present day to NYC in April, so stay tuned for more news on that. It’s all very exciting.

I look forward to seeing those who can attend. This is exactly what I’d like to do a lot more of in the near and distant future for my art.

GOD BLAMES US

I’m trying really really hard not to begin another holiday blog with “It’s that time of year again!” and it ain’t easy, but I’m up for the challenge.

Original Jesus Dressup 2018

Anyhow, it’s almost that time of year again so I need to remind everybody I’ve got fridge magnets available! Six different versions of Jesus Dressup, a Trump and even some Mohammed ones still sitting around. So if you want to surprise your loved ones with a healthy dose of blasphemy this Christmas I’m over here with the solution. I have 6 versions of Jesus Dressup to be gotten for the twisted price of 6 for $66! I’m down to the last 200 of the Trump magnets so my guess is that the time on those is about to run out, if you get my drift. And the same goes for Mohammed.

Also, if you think there’s a weird little kitschy store in your neighborhood that doesn’t but should sell any of these please contact me somehow with their name and location and I’ll give it my best shot. For that I thank you!

I ALSO have a brand new suggestion of a possible gift for the season that no one asked for – Signed art prints by me.

I have chosen my favorite 15 works to make available for purchase. Ever since I started drawing with any sort of seriousness, my goal has been to make art I’d want to hang on my walls. Things I want to hang up with the style, colors, emotion and subject matter that I can’t seem to find anywhere else. Then afterwards completing that quest I’ve printed, matted, framed and hung them on my walls, just as planned!

Spending my time drawing these portraits has been what’s keeping me sane. I’ve been away from the city for 4 years now, and out of the handful of solutions I’ve tried to evoke for leveling my head, drawing, as usual, is the savior.

Now having just discovered a printshop here that does such a beautiful job, this was clearly the next step. It’s been inspiring too. It’s inspiring me to draw more, tweak my skills, take more chances and even find venues where I can show them off, both locally and even in NYC. Stay tuned for further details on that.

Oh, and always remember, God Blames Us.
Happy Holidays everyone.

It was after moving here to Michigan that I discovered one of my friends from New York had become a famous pornstar, now in LA. Not only this, but I was already her fan. I knew the name. So imagine my shock when I saw she was following me on Instagram and had already messaged me from her new porn name saying, “You probably don’t recognize me but, Hi! How are you?”

Long story short, she and I agreed on this little project together, and I was allowed to make it whatever I wanted. She also made it crystal clear that she had “no use for a censored version, lol!” So be aware this is NSFW. If you have a weak heart or are a bit leaning towards the prudish this is not the game for you! Your temptation to click on the “NAKEY” option is yours to contend with. Yours alone. But for everybody else, click away! I’m very proud with how it turned out. I think that shows.

As any of you who keep up with me know, I’ve been poking around these last couple years trying to figure out where the next stage of my creativity is going. I took another shot at painting, and it didn’t take long for me to realize I just find painting unenjoyable. And I’ve been shooting in the dark in other areas as well. Finally I’ve just had to accept that my expertise and excitement is with cute, funny dressup games. I need to stop trying to deny this. So figuring out how to do them now-a-days is the challenge I should be addressing.

You see, this is my first attempt at making a dressup game myself to be played on a mobile device. It’s not an app. It’s a webpage, which I realize is becoming less and less of a familiar platform for such things. But it does indeed work. It may take some of you a hot minute for the images to load up, and I have no idea what other glitches will be coming at me once its traffic picks up, but this is my version vision of how it can be done, by me.

I’m interested to get the feedback, and hoping you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed making it.
